XEC
eCash (XEC) Blockchain Overview
eCash is a rebranded and reimagined version of Bitcoin Cash ABC (BCHA), created to bring fast, affordable digital payments to everyone—while modernizing the underlying tech for better scalability and usability. Though its roots go back to Bitcoin, eCash isn’t trying to be just another store of value. Instead, it’s focused on becoming a true digital cash system that people can use for everyday transactions, much like physical money.
What sets eCash apart is its blend of Bitcoin’s tried-and-true mechanics with forward-thinking enhancements. It retains the basic structure of Bitcoin—like the UTXO (unspent transaction output) model and a fixed supply—but adds features like fork-free network upgrades, faster block times, and improved transaction throughput. The team behind eCash has set its sights on handling millions of transactions per second in the long run, aiming to compete with traditional payment systems like Visa and Mastercard.
The eCash network introduces innovations that Bitcoin doesn’t natively support. For example, it’s working toward native support for staking and governance. Unlike Bitcoin, where users have little control over the direction of development, eCash is run as a proof-of-stake-enabled project (via a system called “Avalanche post-consensus”), which allows holders to vote on proposals and guide network evolution.
One of the major goals of eCash is to provide near-instant transaction finality, which is especially important for day-to-day purchases. Avalanche integration helps with this, making it much harder for transactions to be reversed or double-spent. This creates a smoother, more secure experience for users and merchants alike.
XEC is the native currency of the eCash network. As part of the rebrand from BCHA to eCash, the project also decided to redenominate its token by a factor of 1,000, making it more intuitive and user-friendly. Where 1 BCHA used to exist, you now have 1,000 XEC, helping prices and transaction amounts feel more like traditional fiat currencies.
eCash also focuses on accessibility. It’s designed to be usable by people with little technical knowledge and to support integration with mobile wallets, merchant tools, and exchanges. While it hasn’t received the same level of attention as Bitcoin or Ethereum, it’s carving out a niche as a lightweight, efficient payment network focused on usability over hype.
With its vision to combine the best of Bitcoin’s legacy with innovations tailored for speed, scalability, and governance, eCash (XEC) positions itself as a serious contender in the digital payments space.
